Blast From The Past: Bi-Coloured Edna Totes

The weekend is here πŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎthat said please enjoy this blast from the past post, me thinks this design will make a comeback...hmmmm πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ’πŸ’ lets watch and see shall we πŸ˜‰πŸ˜…

Nov 17, 2012
I finished these a while back and I'm just getting round to putting it up. I call the bag Edna because it seems like an appropriate name, Edna sounds strong, dependable, simple but with a touch of "something" extra. I enjoyed making these bags, maybe it's cos I had made like 2 usable prototypes, and with the patterns already cut, marked and labelled, making them bags was like putting together a very familiar jigsaw puzzle. I tried to downplay the use of hardware but for the extra long handle I couldn't avoid it completely, but by and by I still think it is a great looking bag. It's just the right size- as in not too big or too small for that matter, interior is lined with soft leather lining, also, interior has pouches for phones and other miscellaneous stuff as well as a zipped compartment and a key ring holder.

I think the colour combo rocks!!!

Design might make a comeback...

Remember Gidan Nodza bags are available for purchase here and also, don't forget to check out and follow our tweets herelike our Instagram page here for quick updates and our facebook fan page here to view more pictures.

Customised Version: Aduke Patchwork Bags

Brief Post alert! πŸ˜›

It all started with a custom request. The lady loved the original patchwork Aduke bags and wanted hers tweaked to accommodate a roomy front pouch, a long detachable handle and she also wanted it to zip close instead of magnetic snap. She asked, we made and she loved it😍 and so did you guys πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ because I made a couple more after that πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ check them out πŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎand see more after the cut πŸ˜‰

New Bag Alert: The Osayi Shoulder Bag

This post is waaaaay over due πŸ™„πŸ˜ but better late than never hehehehe. I made this version and have even made a tweaked version sef... 😱whatamIsaying?! πŸ˜³πŸ™Š There was the original version (this and this) before I did some major modifications to these πŸ‘†πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎfollowed by the final final version (post and pictures coming up in a GN minute 😢😢)

This design (all versions) was a big deal when it was eventually completed, the original was a custom request for a special GN faithful that wanted a roomy but not too big bag. She also wanted a hand bag, shoulder bag with a messenger style as well. The roomy but not too big part I achieved by using soft leather to fit-line the bag so the pouch and zipped compartment became one with the bag thereby eliminating the bagginess and puffiness that comes with cloth lining πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ, the gusset I also made expandable for extra room. Finishing the edges of the gusset I must admit had me questioning my decision not to go the safe way  making the gusset i.e piping, folded edges, or even glued edges sef, Noooo! πŸ˜– Gidan Nodza had to go the hard wayπŸ˜–πŸ˜£... it took a number of filing and coating and filing and coating before we got the desired smoothness and even after that we did one more time just because😬 (see a brief post about the process) The result of this process is always worth the work every time πŸ‘πŸΎ

The handle-through-flap concept of this design is like the proverbial cherry on topπŸ‘ŒπŸΎ! The style is sure to make you and your bag stand out from all others because your bag will always make them wonder about the practicality of the design, but hey πŸ‘‹πŸΎπŸ™…πŸΎ *snaps fingers* that's for them to wonder because sweet heartπŸ‘πŸΎit's πŸ‘πŸΎyourπŸ‘πŸΎbagπŸ‘πŸΎyou πŸ‘πŸΎ areπŸ‘πŸΎ rockingπŸ‘πŸΎitπŸ‘πŸΎ asπŸ‘πŸΎ itπŸ‘πŸΎ is πŸ‘πŸΎand #youdontowenoonenoexplanation πŸ‘πŸΎ #byeFelicia 😜😝 *evil chuckle* Anyways, enough talk πŸ˜†check them out and please let me know what you think 🚢🏾🚢🏾🚢🏾🚢🏾

All three versions seen here are sold out but there is a newer version πŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎ available on the site for your buying pleasure πŸ˜‰, remember it is free delivery with Nigeria but a token outside Nigeria.

Gotta run πŸƒπŸΎπŸƒπŸΎπŸƒπŸΎπŸƒπŸΎThank you so much for stopping by and have a great week ahead.

Blast From The past: Patchwork Aduke Bag

This was the first Aduke Bag I ever made! Needless to say I have made a lot more after this. This bag gave birth to the all the other versions. I have made the Ostrich skin version, the un-patched version and the current all leather patchwork version. This is one of my most loved bag. You guys never seemed to have enough of the early years I couldn't make them fast enough lol! Anyways read the post below as it was then in 2010 πŸ˜³πŸ˜†πŸ˜ƒ

Aug 10, 2010: I am currently test using this piece... and I am loving it. I wasn't sure how the reaction was going to be cos I was worried that most will find it very colourful but lets just say... so far so good, you folks might be seeing more of these but in different and/single colour theme.

I know for certain that I cannot replicate this bag even if I wanted to, not even with a gun to my head lol... so Gidan Nodza's policy of no 2 bags being the same ever is no joke

Bag is snug, just the right size, not too big not small, I have my cosmetic bag, 2 writing/scketching pads, a puzzle book, a pashmina, a small umbrella, that is apart from my wallet, card holder, 2 phones, lots of pencils and pens, sharpner and eraser and yes! a tube of hand creme

Patchwork all the way

No more rummaging through bag looking for keys esp when you need to go real quick, just pull the strap and voila! you are in the loo in no time lol!

A zipped compartment, 2 phone pouches and another wider pouch for those other stuff you have to have with you that other people esp men cannot understand.

I'm currently working on some Aduke bags (patchwork and non-patchwork) pictures will be up as soon as they are ready.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great weekendπŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½.

New Look Ini-Obong Bag

One of the absolute joys of what I do is how I can stand back, critically assess what I've done and change, modify, tweak or improve on the design. When I introduce a new design, chances are it's going to get tweaked 2 or 3 times before we are done with it. Rarely does it happen that the first design remains the same a few err batches later...uhn uhn no sir!

Case in point; this was the first Ini-Obong Bag that I made, I thought it was the be all and end all bag!!! I wanted to worship it 😝 and to be fair, I stayed true to the design when I made a couple more i.e -these ones Then πŸ™ˆ I modified the design when I made these ones by down-sizing a bit, making the top handle somewhat shoulder-carrying-lenght longer and getting rid of the gusset pleat (gusset is the side of a bag in construction mode) the locks also changed, to be honest I was sure I had a winner when I made the last batch but errr after standing way way back and eye balling them bags, I had to admit to myself that the false flap thingy wasn't workingπŸ’πŸ½, I mean it looked awesome and all but in terms of it being practical? Nah! it wasn't werking, it was kinda confusing sef to some people who thought the extra flap was an extra pouch πŸ˜’πŸ™„ so it was back to the drawing board 😁and yeah! I'm happy to say that now we do have the be all and end all version!!! πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ

The new look is minimalist-esque, was going for the simple but classic look, something for the boss lady who likes her peplum top (preferably in prints), 3 quarter pencil skirt, red bottom heels and a #KingofQueens attitude πŸ‘ŠπŸΎ...I think we got that in the bag - pun intended #ohyeah. This structured piece will keep it together, even especially for those moments when it might seem all is falling apart but as a #bosslady you are always ALWAYS in control!

Handle is hand stitched. Please take a closer look and respect! hehehehe 😜😝

Respect!!! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘ŠπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Bag measures approx. 10.5" High, 13" wide and 5" base. The interior has 2 phone pouches, a zipped compartment and an extra compartment. Bag is handmade here in Lagos, Nigeria but I'm sure you already knew that πŸ˜‰πŸ™ƒ
The mixed tone version of the bag is available for purchase on our online shop πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½ head on here to make it yours, delivery is free within Nigeria but a token across the borders.

Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the weekend.
